Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. What we collect
Account details: your name, email, phone number and the addresses you book services to.
Booking data: the services you book, when, with whom, and the notes and photos you attach to a request.
Payment data: card details are held by our payment processor, not by us. We store the last four digits and the expiry so you can recognise the card.
Usage data: pages viewed and searches run, used to improve recommendations and to spot fraud.
2. Why we use it
To take and fulfil bookings — this is the contract between us, and we cannot run the service without it.
To keep the platform safe: verifying professionals, investigating reports, and preventing fraud. This is our legitimate interest.
To send you service messages about your bookings. Marketing messages only go out with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Notifications.
4. How long we keep it
Booking and payment records are kept for seven years to meet tax and accounting obligations.
Documents in your account — consent forms, certificates — stay available while your account is open, and for 30 days after you close it.
Messages are kept for two years after the related booking.
5. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Start any of these in Settings → Contact details → Data & privacy.
We respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
6. Contacting us
Our data protection contact is privacy@nearhands.co.uk, or write to NearHands Technologies Ltd, 18 Claypath, Durham DH1 1RH.
Our team can walk you through anything here in plain English.
